A Snowy Sunday Morning

Last Saturday afternoon and evening we had a light snow. Sunday morning provide some great photo oportunities. I took this shot as the sun was just coming up.

And then there was the Bald Eagle surveying the pond trying to figure out if the geese were just too big to make a meal out of. We had a bald eagle visit about the same time last year. I assume he is on his way north so hopefully spring is not too far behind him.

Veggie Conferences

January is the month for conferences and hearing about the latest research to control everything that wants to eat or wreck havoc on our vegetables before we have chance to harvest them. We belong to two local organizations, the Maryland State Horticulture Society whose annual conference is part of the Mid Atlantic Fruit and Vegetable Conference. We are also member of Future Harvest – Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture. The theme for this years conference was “Local Food Key to Healthy People, Economies.

New Lambs!

Our lambing season has started early in 2012! So far we have a pair of twins – one set born January 25 and another set born this morning. Will post photos soon!
